Alex's Birthday!,Cumberland, BC, Horn Lake Caves

On the weekend, we went mountain biking on long trails for an hour and a half.  We went to the pool for our cousin Alex's birthday too on a different day (April 21).   She is 7 now.  The next day we went on a half hour drive to caves that you could go in without a guide.  It was called Horn Lake Caves.  If you turned off your flashlight, the caves were so dark that you could not even see your hand right in front of your face.  In one part of the cave, our Tante Sacha went in a tiny part of a cave with a river going through it.  In the caves, there were cave crickets, daddy long legs, and bats.  From the water going through it over thousands of years, it created crystals.  When we got back, we watched Pirates of the Caribbean, ate dinner, and went to bed.  Today we biked to Cumberland Lake.

Victoria, BC,Cumberland BC, Campbell River BC, Courtenay BC

We got to our cousins house late at night when they were sleeping. As we were talking my little cousin (Alex) woke up and we all started playing together and didn't go to bed until about two in the morning. The next day we woke up and my other cousin (Oban) was surprised that we were there so early because he thought we we were coming later that night. We got to look around the town and see the different shops.  On Easter long weekend, we and my aunt, uncle, and cousins went to a hotel in Victoria for 3 nights.  Oban had a soccer tournament on the Saturday and Sunday.  We walked all over town by the inner harbour for the days that we were there.  We walked through the narrowest public access way in all of Canada; it was in China town.  It was so cool -- you could do the Spiderman crawl up between the too walls.  China town was really neat.  We took a boat tour and learned about the area, like hobos take over abandoned boats and live in them for free in the best part of the city.  My brother thought that was so cool and wanted to do that.  My mom and dad and aunt and uncle went to an Indian restaurant with a bunch of my aunt and uncle's friends, and then they went to the Empress for some drinks.  On Easter all the Easter eggs were hidden in the hotel rooms.  We also each found a chocolate bunny.  My mom and aunt went with some friends to ariel yoga which they thought was cool.  We did a lot of swimming in the pool.  We also went to Beacon Park and held some goats and pet some chickens.
Yesterday, Owen and I went with our cousin Oban on his class field trip to Campbell River Museum.  My mom was one of the drivers.  We learned how the native people made their paints out of oker (red), charcoal (black), and sea shells (white), and that they made it waterproof by crushing it with salmon eggs.  We got to make our own paint and make a style of painting using the traditional techniques of different tribes.  Also, 150 years ago, the native people made their clothes out of cedar inner bark strips and weaved them together.  It was also my mom's birthday yesterday, so we all walked over to the best bakery in Cumberland where they have the best donuts and we all got a huge apple fritter.  My dad took her out to a nice restaurant called the Old House in Courtenay.  They had seafood.
All of us kids are working on different things to make for selling at the Cumberland market.  I am knitting different things like wallets and a little dog, and the boys are carving wood.

Golden/Kamloops B.C

We did a lot of fun things this past week, we got some good powder in kicking horse for the days we went skiing. One day my mom, my brother and I pulled out an old paddle boat out of the water, and then fixed it up a little bit so we were able to ride it in the pond that was there. Later in the week we ended up playing with a boy who lived around the campsite, We played grounders at the park that is there and a bunch of different games. Mackenzie and dad went back to Fernie in the car for Mackenzie to be in a  movie as one of the extra skiers. On the last day we were in Golden the whole family all walked down to the pond and played in the water with the paddle boat. the next day we were in the road again heading for Kamloops. we ended up parking in a Walmart parking lot in Kamloops and went to a lot of the stores that were there as my dad did some things for work. This morning the whole family went into First Choice hair cutters and all got a hair cut.

Next Camp Ground in Golden

April, 4 2017

Today we left to a nicer camp ground in Golden. When we got there me and the boys played outside at the park that is there. Later that night we made a fire out of dead twigs, sticks and branches that we found around the area in the trees. When I was looking for wood in the trees I found this odd thing that kind of looked like a walking stick.

skiing at kicking horse

April, 2, 2017

Today we went skiing at kicking horse and it is beautiful there. When you got to the the top you were surrounded by like hundreds of mountains. For lunch we ate at the highest restaurant in Canada! it is on the top of one of the mountains at kicking horse. The hills are so long and smooth, and there was even powder at the top.

Hot springs

April, 1, 2017

Today we started driving to a town called "Golden" witch is the town that is right beside a ski hill called "Kicking Horse". we stopped at a gas station to fill up with gas, and there is a little shop that is running the gas station ,and they had two goats in a really big fenced in area, and they would try and follow you if you feed them. Also along the way we stopped at some hot springs for a break, It is really big in the hot springs pool, they said that all the water is from the mountains and that they don't have to heat it if anything they have to cool it sometimes. Across from the hot spring pool on the other side of the road, there are the real hot spring witch is little pools of hot water in the rocks that was made by the first nations. There is also an old little rock house thing that there are tubs carved out of rock with warm water in it that the first nations also made from a long time ago.
